Spaulding Motorsports
My name is Zack Spaulding.  I am 16 years old.  I have been racing for 9 years, starting in the Outlaw Cage
Karts.  I started in the Pee Wee class at Cottage Grove Speedway.  I finished 3rd in points that first year.  After
that, I raced in the Roseburg Winter Series.

Then my dad built a 5hp intermediate motor and put it on the kart.  MORE POWER.  My first full year in that
class, I won the championship with 8 straight feature wins at Cottage Grove Speedway.

The next winter series in Roseburg was a close one.  Going into the last main event for the season I had a 1
point lead over 2nd place and a 2 point lead over 3rd. I came in 3rd in points.  It was a good, clean race.

I got a 125cc motor in 2005.  I thought I would have a learning year.  Little did I know that I would win the
championship for the 125cc class at Roseburg for the 2005-2006 & 2006-2007 seasons, as well as
championships at Cottage Grove Speedway for 2005 & 2006.  I also got to be on KMTR NewsSource 16 with
Dave Wenda.  We did an "I Dare Dave" segment. That was a lot of fun.

We found out there was a new class starting up.  It was for 9 to 14 year olds driving restricted 600 micro sprints.
My family found one on EBAY.  I drove it a few times before the restrictors were put in.  The second weekend in
the car I won the A-main against the adults.  That was a fun day, but the class moved north, so we sold the car.

With the money from the micro, we bought a 2006 QRC kart and a 500cc motor to put on it.   Man, what a
wheelie machine!  We even got to record a commercial for our sponsor. I raced in the Open Intermediate class
at Cottage Grove for the 2007 summer season.  I finished the season in 2nd place.  Not too bad considering
the only driver who finished in front of me has years of experience in the 500cc class.  I won the championship
in my 2nd full season in the Open Intermediate class for the 2007/2008 winter season in Salem, OR.  Talk about
a competitive class!  It wasn't easy.

I was able to win the 2008 summer series championship in Cottage Grove for the Open Intermediate class, as
well as driving a '91 Camaro Z28 in the All American Street Stock class, also in Cottage Grove.  We were very
blessed with people willing to help out with parts and advice.  I finished the season in 8th place, after missing 8
races, with a trophy dash win and a heat race win.

Now, we've sold the Camaro and the kart and have replaced them with a 1999 Eagle sprint car.  During my first
full season in the sprint car, thanks to sponsors and so many others, I didn't miss any races.  I was also able to
win 3 main events, 2 heat races, a trophy dash, and earned 'Rookie of the Year' for the Limited Sprint class.
There were a lot of ups & downs, but we knew that would happen and didn't expect every week to go perfectly.  I
was able to finish the 2009 summer season in Cottage Grove in 5th place and even raced with the 360 Sprint
class one night and a few times with the 360 Wingless Sprint class.  In October 2010, I finished my 2nd full
Limited Sprint season in 2nd place, just 6 points out of the championship!  I had the privilege of racing in 4
different classes that season.  Seat time is invaluable.  Also, I was able to earn 'Rookie of the Year' in the 360
Sprint class.  On August 7th, our motor blew during a race.  Thanks to our engine builder, Brian Crockett, we
were able to finish the season.

Thanks to a generous offer from Martin Korstad at
ECO-Machine Technologies, we were able to get a new
motor assembled for the 2011 season.  We are off & running for another successful year for the team as well as
our sponsors!
